#ThameTrees was launched at the February 2020 Volunteer Fair at Racquets Fitness Centre.
Over 1000 saplings were given away to residents and allotment societies to be planted and nurtured for years to come.
The cost of the saplings was covered by sponsorship primarily from Lucy Electric but also a few other companies keen to help.
Hartwell Nurseries supplied the trees at a greatly reduced price.
And from there #ThameTrees was launched.
Since then we’ve made applications to the Woodland Trust, SODC Councillors and others for grants for trees and planted these in a number of private locations resulting in a small number of copses being developed and lots of hedges.
Lucy Electric have been amazingly supportive each year with some wonderful planting of more mature trees at Chinnor Rugby Club and a number of fruit trees from Bernwode Plants which found their homes in a variety of different households of Thame.
The #ThameTrees project team of 21st Century Thame are so thankful to all those who have been involved in applications, planting and organising volunteers and purchasing. In particular thanks to Will of The HR Agency and Dan.
